Leatha Izeta Keesey, daughter of Charles V. and Alta M. Keesey, was born January 14, 1900 at Redfield, Iowa and departed this life April 3, 1961 at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 19 days after a short illness.
In 1914 she moved to a farm near De Soto where she attended high school and grew to womanhood. She was baptized in infancy.
On July 5, 1923 she was united in marriage to Clifford Stanley. They lived in the Dexter-Earlham community all their married life. Five daughters were born to this union: Mrs. Ivan Link of Maxwell, Mrs. Delbert Crase of Redfield, Mrs. Robert E. Howe of Creston, Mrs. Arvid Love of Dexter and Evelyn at home.
Her greatest joy was her eight grandchildren who enlightened her life. They are Sandra, Darrell and Michael Crase, Sharon and Robyn Howe, Linda and Pamela Love and baby Charlotte Link.
Besides her husband and five daughters, she is survived by three brothers: Murl Keesey of Clarinda, Floyd of Van Meter and Lyman of Adel; three sisters: Mrs. Cecile Cade of Van Meter, Mrs. Gladys Armstrong of Van Meter and Mrs. Lola Merical of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Alman Ward and Lloyd Vernon, and one sister Dorothy Franck.
Leatha's death came as a great shock. She will be greatly missed. Her life was one of great service, always kind and helpful. She loved her home and her many beautiful flowers.
Funeral services were held at the Dexter Methodist church Wednesday, April 5 at two o'clock. The Rev. Ernest Baiotto of the Bear Creek Friends church had charge of the service.
