Among those who were here from a distance Sunday to attend funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Travis were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Travis and Connie of Golden, Colorado, Mrs. Everett James of Hawthorne, California, Rev. and Mrs. Earl Travis and family of Shellsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Travis and family of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Ruby Imes of Arvada, Colorado, Mrs. Maude Simmons from Yakima, Washington.
Also Mr. and Mrs. George Stirts of Camp Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Childers of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Fenimore of Mitchelville and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Perry of Prairie City.

Heart Attack Results in Death at Age of 76 Years
Mrs. Nellie F. Travis, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died last Saturday, April 11 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She suffered a heart attack six days before her death.
Mrs. Travis was 76 years of age. She was born June 9, 1882, in the Elm Grove neighborhood a daughter of J. H. and Sarah Jane Hoover and spent practically all her life in Madison county.
She was married Feb. 12, 1902, at Peru to Martin B. Travis, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Grace Baptist church in Winterset.
Surviving are three sons, Joe Travis of Denver, Colorado, Earl Travis of Shellsburg, Wendell Travis of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Maude Simmons of Yakima, Washington and Mrs. Wilma Carter of Winterset; six sisters; 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She also leaves her father, Henry Hoover of St. Charles.
Funeral services were held from the Peru Methodist church Sunday in charge of the Rev. Richard G. Mohr, pastor of the Grace Baptist church, assisted by the Rev. Forrest Davis of the Peru Methodist church. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
