BYRON BARTMESS SERVICES FRIDAY

St. Charles Business Man Died Last Wednesday Aged 69 Years

Byron Bartmess of St. Charles died at his home there February 18. He was 69 years of age.

Mr. Bartmess was born at Jefferson on March 14, 1889, a son of Oliver and Lavina Lenhart Bartmess. He had been a resident of Madison county for 30 years. In recent years, he had operated a restaurant in St. Charles.

He was married Feb. 26, 1919, at Adel, to Lucille Sumpter, who survives him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Doris Vert of Lorimor, a grandson; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Woolery of DeSoto, Mrs. Marie Short of Redfield, and Mrs. Katherine Hicks of Des Moines; a brother, Merrill Bartmess of Adel.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
