Earlham, IowaOBITUARY
Mattie Mae Hennen, daughter of James and Vera Hennen, was born July 24th, 1870, at Lexington, Illinois, and departed from this life January 15, 1959, at Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 88 years, six months, and 21 days. She had been in failing health the past eight years and bedfast the past year.
While she was still small, the family moved to West Virginia where she lived until ten years of age. The family then moved to what was known as James Town, Nebraska, where she received most of her schooling. Later she was employed in Jefferson and Redfield, Iowa.
In 1897, Mattie was married to David Alfred Countryman in Wiscotta, near Redfield. To this union was born one son, Wilfred Arthur, of Council Bluffs. Most of her married years were spent in the vicinity of Redfield, but some years were spent in Earlham and Council Bluffs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1950, also brothers--Frank, Brooks, and Matthew; and sister, Effie.
Besides her son, Wilfred, and daughter-in-law, Gladys, she is survived by two sisters, Mary Louise Anderson of Fremont, Nebraska, and Ida Maude Halstedt of Sheridan, Wyoming. She also leaves a host of friends and relatives who remember her as a good neighbor and one always ready to help in time of need.
(Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery)
