Wednesday, December 16, 1959CURTIS SHOEMAKER DIES IN MONTANA
Curtis Shoemaker, a former resident of Madison county, died in a Kalispell, Montana hospital on Dec. 12.
A son of George and Orlena Shoemaker, he was born near Winterset on Jan. 3, 1885. He spent his early life in this community, later attending Drake university.
In January 1911, he was married to Verna Cline, who died in 1933.
For several years he was associated with the Apple Grove orchards at Mitchellville, moving to Montana in 1911. During recent years he had been in charge of maintenance and personnel for several state parks in northwestern Montana.
Mr. Shoemaker is survived by his wife, seven children, three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Foster of Mapleton, Minn. and Jane and Ruth Shoemaker of Winterset; and three brothers, Glenn, Carl and Ralph, all of Winterset.
Funeral services were to be held this Thursday, Dec. 17, in Montana.
