Page 2, Column 3DR. VIRGIL SHADE DIES IN CALIFORNIA
Funeral services for Dr. Virgil Edward Shade, former Winterset resident, were held at a chapel in Inglewood, California, Tuesday, April 7th, with burial in the Inglewood park cemetery. Dr. Shade, who was 67 years of age, died at the Veterans hospital in West Los Angeles, April 3rd, after a lengthy illness.
Dr. Shade was one of the medical staff at the V.C.C. camp near Winterset from 1935 to 1939, and is a cousin of George Shade of Winterset. He had made his home in Inglewood since 1955, when he retired after 40 years of medical practice in St. Louis and Liberty, Missouri.
He is survived by his widow Elsa, two sons, Karl of Maryland, Arthur of Sacramento, Calif., a daughter Mrs. Olivia Lytle of Inglewood, a sister, two brothers and eight grandchildren.
