FORMER RESIDENT DIES AT JEFFERSON

Floyd Deal, a native of Madison county, died last Thursday, Sept. 24, in Jefferson, following a heart attack. He was 54 years of age.

He had moved with his parents to Bagley when he was a young man.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, three grandchildren; a brother, Robert Deal of Bagley; and a sister, Mrs. Edna Brady of Jefferson.

Funeral services were held from the Bagley Methodist church Sunday, with burial at Jefferson.

Floyd Deal Rites Held in Bagley

Floyd Deal, Bagley area farmer, suffered a severe heart attack while at work last Thursday and died almost immediately. He was unloading corn at the time of the attack and he was rushed to the Greene county hospital in Jefferson where he died.

Final rites were held from the Bagley Methodist church for Mr. Deal Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. W. W. Watson, pastor of the Bagley and Greenbrier Methodist churches, was in charge. A quartet consisting of Reverend Watson, Ray Hoyt, Dean Shiflet and George Irwin sang. They were accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Roy Klinzman.

Casket bearers were Oram Dawson, Lee Bebb, Jack Wiley, Jerome Renfrow, George Christensen and Albert Leek. Interment was made in the Jefferson cemetery.

Floyd Carlyle, youngest son of Robert Lee and Minnie Deal, was born January 5, 1905, near Winterset in Madison County, Iowa, and passed away September 24, 1959 at the age of 54 years, 8 months and 19 days. He lived in Madison County until 1916, when he moved with his parents to Greene County. He lived in Greenbrier township the remainder of his life.

He was united in marriage with Thelma Hunt of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas, on August 31, 1931. To this union were born three sons, Dale Wayne of Bagley, Donald Lee of Little Rock, Ark., and Norman Ward at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, three sons, two daughters-in-law, four grandchildren, Gary Wayne, Ronald Steven and Kevin Rae, sons of Wayne and Debbie Kay, daughter of Donald, one sister, Mrs. Edna Brady of Jefferson, one brother, Robert Deal of Bagley and many other relatives and friends.

Floyd was a member of the Bagley Methodist church. He was always kind and considerate of his family, thoughtful of his neighbors and friends. He was willing to lend a helping hand in time of need and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
