MRS. SAMUEL TRAVIS IS BURIED AT PERU

Funeral Services Held There Sept. 29 for Former Resident

Mrs. Samuel C. Travis, member of a pioneer family in the Peru community, died Sept. 25 at Dodge City, Kan. She was 80 years of age.

Mrs. Travis was the former Phoebe Jo Anna Maricale, daughter of John and Cathereen Maricale, and was born at Peru, Sept. 26, 1866. She was married to Samuel C. Travis on Jan. 20, 1886. They were the parents of four children, two of whom survive. Her husband preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Blanche R. King of Dodge City, Kan., and Mrs. Fern E. Sayre of Ensign, Kan.; seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Dodge City, and also on Sept. 29, at the Peru Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. James Stevens. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.

Dodge City—Mrs. Phoeba Johanna Travis, 79, long time resident of Southwest Kansas, died Wednesday at Murray Memorial hospital. She would have been 80 years old on Thursday.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Blanche R. King, Dodge City, and Mrs. Ferne E. Sayre, Ensign.
