Resident of County Last 37 Years; Had Long Been Ill
Mrs. Lulu M. Berry, a resident of Madison county for the last 37 years, died Wednesday of last week at the home of her step-daughter, Olga Peterson, of Winterset. She was 61 years of age, and had been bedfast for the last two and a half years.
Mrs. Berry was the former Lulu Mae Stark, daugher of Benjamin and Ann Stark, and was born in Kingman county, Kansas on May 31, 1885. When she was 18 years old she came to Lorimor to live with her foster brother, Henry Stark.
She was married on Aug. 30, 1904, to Charles A. Berry. They were the parents of one daughter, Mabel. After five years they moved to Madison county, where she had since resided. Her husband preceded her in death.
Mrs. Berry is survived by her daughter, Mabel Davis; three step-children, Olga Peterson of Winterset, Orra Berry of Scott township and Omer Berry of Monroe township; a foster brother, Henry of Tacoma, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last Saturday from the Fellowship church, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Thompson, and burial was made in the Hamblin cemetery.
