Long-Time Resident of This County Was 66 Years of Age
Ernest N. Allen, a resident of Madison county for practically all his life, died Dec. 28 at his home near New Virginia, where he had lived the past several years. He was 66 years of age.
Mr. Allen was the son of Thomas J. and Clara Allen, and was born in Scott township, Feb. 28, 1880. He spent his early life there.
He was married Sept. 3, 1899, to Bertha M. Corable. They were the parents of two children. The wife and mother died in 1942.
On Oct. 1, 1944, he was married to Laura Henrich. They made their home in New Virginia.
Mr. Allen was a member of the St. Charles Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife, of New Virginia; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Woods; a son, Wayne Allen; and two grandsons; all of Winterset; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Smith of St. Charles, and Mrs. Nell Woodbury of Grant's Pass, Ore.; and a brother, W. F. Allen of Minneapolis.
Funeral services were held Dec. 31 from the New Virginia Methodist church, and burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
Note: Name "Corable" should be "Corsbie" per family member.
