Former resident Here Died June 10 at Council Bluffs

Mrs. Lillie C. Thomas, former resident of the Oak Grove community in this county, died Tuesday June 10 at the home of her son, Charles Thomas, at Council Bluffs. She was 81 years of age.

Mrs. Thomas was born near Salem on Aug. 7, 1879, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bond. She lived near Salem until she was married to John Thomas in 1894. At that time they came to Madison county to make their home, living here until the death of Mr. Thomas about seven years ago.

In her home community she had been a member of the Friends church, but upon moving to Madison county she became a member of the Oak Grove Evangelical U. B. church, and was active in its service over a long period of years.

She is survived by her son, Charles Thomas of Council Bluffs; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Dragoo of Defiance; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Oak Grove church here, with the Rev. H. O. Thompson of Council Bluffs officiating. Burial was made in the Macksburg cemetery.
