Mrs. J. O. Peek Formerly Had Lived in Winterset and Truro
Mrs. J. O. Peek, whose death occurrd Jan. 19 at St. Anthony's hospital in Stillwater, Okla., was formerly a well known resident of Madison county.
Mrs. Peek was the former Lulu Likens, and was born Oct. 6, 1873 in Brunswick, Mo. As a young girl she came to Truro, where she worked in the store of her brother, Wes Likens, pioneer merchant and banker. She also made her home for several months with her sister, Mrs. Verdie Rankin, of Barney.
She was married Dec. 19, 1895, to Jesse O. Peek of Truro. They immediately established a home in Winterset, where Mr. Peek served as pharmacist at the M. E. Smith Drug store. While in Winterset, two daughters were born to them, Dorothy and Charlotte.
In 1905 they moved to Lincoln county, Okla. Here their two sons were born, Eldon and Floyd. Since 1919 they had lived at Stillwater.
Mrs. Peek's death occurred after a short illness with leukemia, at the age of 72 years. She is survived by her husband, four children, and five grandchildren. Burial was made at Fairlawn cemetery at Stillwater, on Jan. 22.
