Earlham Echo, Earlham, Iowa
November 1947

MRS. ORILLA WYNKOOP

Orilla Sophia Feitz, fifth child of John and Rosanna Feitz was born in Owen county, Indiana, February 18, 1878, and after a long lingering illness, passed away at the home of her daughter, November 14, 1947.

When a young girl, she joined with the United Presbyterian church in Madison township, later transferring her membership to the Presbyterian church in Earlham. She was united in marriage to Clyde A. Wynkoop of Earlham, February 25, 2003. To this union was born one daughter, Lola Gayle, now Mrs. Gale Marston.

Almost all her life she lived on a farm in Madison county except two years spent in Colorado.

Rilla, as she was familiarly called, was essentially a home body. She loved her home and was never so happy, as when ministering to the comfort of those she loved.

Ever quiet, and unassuming, her christian life was beautiful, seldom an unkind word was uttered about those with whom she was associated.

The beauty of her character never shone more brightly than in her last days of intense suffering.

Her one thought was to spare those who so willingly waited upon her - so hard for her to lay down the work which her willing hands found to do almost to the last.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Rankin, Lucy Moline and Emma Hodson, also two brothers, Henry and Albert.

Those left to mourn her passing are her husband, her daughter, one brother, Charles of Colorado Springs, three grandchildren, Barbara, Ted and Paul Marston, besides a host of relatives and friends.

Services were held in the Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. Sunday conducted by the pastor, Rev. S. R. Overholser. Interment in the Earlham cemetery.
