HENRY LENZ DIES IN SOUTH DAKOTA

Former Jefferson Township Farmer Was 77 Years of Age

Van Meter.---(Special)--Henry W. Lenz, a resident of Jefferson township for a quarter century, died Jan. 2 at his home in Wolsey, S. Dak. He was 77 years of age.

Mr. Lenz was born April 11, 1868, in the province of Hessia, Germany, coming to the United States in 1887, at the age of 19 years, and settling in Madison county. He was married May 21, 1892, to Louise Kahre, in Omaha. They lived in Jefferson township until 1902, when they moved to South Dakota settling on a farm which is now the town of Vayland. In 1920, they retired and moved to Wolsey, where he had since lived. Mrs. Lenz died in 1931.

He is survived by one son, John Lenz of Wolsey; and six daughters Mrs. Lydia Wagner of Janesville, Minn., Mrs. Rosie Schaefer of Ableman, Wis., Mrs. Louise Horn of Wolsey, Mrs. Henrietta Schaefer of Reedsburg, Wis., Mrs. Fernanda Lindhorst of Wolsey, and Mrs. Kelley Gogolin of Blunt, S. Dak. He also leaves 24 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother, John Lenz of Van Meter.

Short funeral services were held at his home, Jan. 5 followed by rites from St. John's Lutheran church. Burial was made in the cemetery at Wolsey.
