Funeral Services Held Here Tuesday From Anderson’s Home for Funerals
Mrs. Charles E. Handel, a resident of this community nearly all her life, died at Memorial hospital in Winterset Sunday, Nov. 2, after several years of failing health. She was 70 years of age.
Mrs. Handel was the former Jennie L. Newerf, daughter of Nicholas and Henrietta Newerf. She was born at Pella, Oct. 3, 1882, but came to this community with her parents when a small child. Her home had been here since that time.
She was married to Charles E. Handel at Indianola on June 15, 1910.
She was a member of Eastern Star, and attended the First Baptist church here.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Ralph E. Handel of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Carl J. Bek of Scott township four grandchildren, Phillip and Marsha Handel and Annabel and Nicholas Bek; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Allgeyer of Winterset and Mrs. Carrie Williams of Marshalltown; and a brother, Fred Newerf of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Anderson home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. Darrell Handel of Lincoln, Nebr. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery
