P. A. CARTER DIES

St. Charles (Special)--P. A. Carter passed away Tuesday morning, April 17, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl Smith, southeast of town, after an illness of a few weeks. He was an old pioneer resident of South township, having spent his 78 years of life in the vicinity whence he was born.

Awaiting the arrival of a grandson, Ivan Carter, who is in the service, and stationed in Arizona, the funeral was not held until Saturday afternoon when services were conducted by the Rev. Kettle of the Methodist church, where the deceased had long been a member.

He is survived by his wife, one son Guy Carter, and a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Smith, both of St. Charles. Another daughter, Mrs. Ella Hogue preceded him in death a number of years ago. Other immediate relatives are a brother, O. M. Carter and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Conard and Mrs. Stella Janes, of St. Charles, besides the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
