MORTUARY

James Alpheus Hutchison, son of James and Mary Hutchison was born in Holmesville, Ohio, March 29, 1853 and died at his home in Truro, Iowa, October 21, 1935 at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 22 days.

At the age of four he came to Iowa with his parents, who settled on a farm in Appanoose county where he spent his early life. At the age of 21 he married Emma Simmons. To this union was born one daughter who died in infancy.

After the death of his wife, shich occured about two years later, he took up the study of medicine, first attending the University of Iowa then the Medical Department of Drake University, from which he received his degree of Doctor of Medicine.

He practiced for a short time in Beaumont, Kansas where he married Hattie A. Miller, September 30, 1885. They moved to Iowa and he established his practice at Exline, later moving to Truro, in 1891 where he continued his practice until a short time before his death.

To his second union were born six children: O. L. Hutchison, Charlton, Iowa, W. E. Hutchison, Tipton, Iowa, Mary Ellen Hutchison, who died at the age of two years, J. E. Hutchison, Hartford, Conn., R. L. Hutchison, and C. M. Hutchison both of Truro, Iowa.

In 1896 he became affiliated with the Masonic Fraternity and was a member of Ivy Lodge No. 483. He was active in Masonic work, having served in all the offices of the lodge.

Besides his wife and five children, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. M. E. Judd, of Troy, Kansas, and Mrs. Ava Kirby of Minden, Missouri, also three grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Funeral services were held from the Truro M. E. church at two o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, October 23, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Clarence Moore, assisted by Rev. Rector. The Masonic lodge conducted their burial service.
