Laura Isabell Thomas was born in Menomonie, Wis., Sept 20, 1885, and died at Winterset, Iowa May 1, 1914, at the home of her aunt, Mrs. J. A. Baker, aged 28 years, 8 months and 10 days. She had been a great sufferer for months and was confined to her bed for 23 weeks. She was united in marriage to W. E. Thornburg in February, 1903. To this union was born two children, Leora Mae aged 9, the other died in infancy.
Her last words as she looked up were “Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus.” She leaves to mourn; her only daughter and her aunts, Mrs. J. A. Baker of Winterset, Mrs. Mary Jones of Menomonie, Wis. And Mrs. Laura Smith of Hannibal, Wis.; also her uncles W. T. and J. L. Gilbert of Des Moines; also several cousins and a host of friends.
She was laid to rest in the old Baptist Cemetery north of town, by the side of her mother and grandmother. Services were held from the Baptist church at 2 p. m. conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. R. Moon.
