WHITLEY E. ALLEN OF WINTERSET PASSES

Whitley H. Allen, elderly Winterset resident, died at his home here Monday. He was 71 years of age.

Mr. Allen was born and reared near Prole, but had lived here in recent years.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday from Tidrick's funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. George L. McLaird, pastor of the Foursquare Gospel church. Burial was to be made at the Linn Grove cemetery in Warren county.

MORTUARY

Whitley H. Allen was born near Prole, Ia., Dec. 3, 1868, and passed away at his home in Winterset, Ia., Jan. 22, 1940, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 19 days. On Sept. 15, 1904 he was united in marriage to Elswitha Lockridge, who preceded him in death in 1927. To this union three children were born, two sons dying in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Faust of Spring Hill.

When a young man he joined the Linn Grove Methodist church near Prole, Ia., where he made his home until 1927 when he moved to Winterset where he resided until the time of his death.

On Oct. 12, 1937 he was united in marriage to Emma Benson who survives him, also one brother Alvin Allen of Laurens, and one sister, Mrs. Walter ---- of Ft. Des Moines, also several nieces and nephews.

Interment was made in the Linn Grove cemetery near Prole.
