North Lee, March 12. Special--
The funeral of Martin Gilleran was held on Monday morning, at Waukee, and the burial was made at Cumming. Mr. Gilleran was living with his daughter, Mrs. Jennie Spats, at Waukee, at the time of his death. He was a resident of Madison county for 75 years, much of that time he lived in Lee township. He was township assessor and secretary of the school board for many years. He was 91 years of age at the time of his death and a veteran of the Civil war.

Last Rites Held For Those Who Live In The County and Former Residents
Martin Gilleran
Martin Gilleran, aged veteran of the Civil war and an old citizen of Lee township, died Saturday in Waukee at the home of his daughter with whom he has lived in the past few years.
Martin Gilleran came to Madison county in 1854. He went to the Civil War in 1864 as second sergeant of Company E. After the war he took up farming in Lee township and resided there until he went to Waukee. He was 86 years old. The funeral was held Monday and the burial was at Waukee.
Martin Gilleran was one of the well known and most popular men in Madison county. He was a fine sturdy citizen and all his long life was considered one of the ablest and best citizens.
