PIONEER RESIDENT DIES AT INDIANOLA

Mrs. Dora E. Norris, a former resident of near Winterset, died at Indianola on Oct. 3, at the age of 97 years.

Mrs. Norris was one of the pioneer residents of Madison county. She was the former Dora E. Robinson, daughter of Eben and Jane Robinson. She was born Aug. 24, 1858, in Menard county, Illinois, and came to Madison county with her parents when she was 6 years of age. They made the trip in a covered wagon.

On Jan. 25, 1878, she was married to Perry Norris. About 1906 they moved to Warren county, living at different times near Liberty Center, Sandyville, Milo, Medford and Center chapel. She was a long-time member of the Christian church at Sandyville.

Ten of her grandsons served in the U.S. armed forces during World War II.

She was the mother of six sons, three of whom preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Charles Norris of Indianola, Earl Norris of Clarinda, and Lee Norris of Winterset; a brother, Bert Robinson of New Virginia, 27 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
