An Old Settler Gone.

Geo. Bardrick, well known to large numbers of the people of Madison county, died at his home just northwest of Winterset, Saturday, September 21, 1889. The funeral services were conducted Monday morning, the 22d, by Rev. J. R. Horswell, pastor of the Methodist church in this city, of which church Mr. Bardrick had long been a member.

Geo. Bardrick was born in Bedfordshire, England, in July 1816. In early life he embraced religion, and has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church more than fifty years. In 1837 with his father’s family he emigrated to America. In 1852 they came to Madison county, where he lived the remainder of his life, and where his parents died some twenty years ago in extreme old age. He leaves a widow, daughter of Hiram Lovelace, of this city, and children grown to manhood and womanhood.

Mr. Bardrick was a man of unassuming ways, a good man and an upright citizen. For several of the past years of his life he was confined to his home on account of feeble health, and in that time little has been known of him outside of his family and immediate circle of friends.
