Thursday, August 13, 1936Death of Mrs. Laura Jones
Mrs. Laura Ann Jones, a veteran resident of the Truro community, died at her home, there on August 2. She was 84 years of age.
Mrs. Jones was the former Laura Ann Foreman and was born in Tuscaragua county, Ohio, on April 13, 1852. When she was 6 years old she came with her parents to Iowa, the family settling in Madison county.
She was married to Benton Jones of Clarke county on September 5, 1869. They were the parents of 11 children, two of whom died in infancy.
All the 66 years of her married life, were spent in Madison and Clarke counties. She witnessed and took an active part in the years that converted southern Iowa from a vast region of open, virgin prairie to the rich agricultural communities of today. She was a long-time member of the Christian church at Truro.
She is survived by her husband; nine children; Mrs. Florence Roby, N. N. Jones and Mrs. T. E. Musselman of Truro; Mrs. W. O. Hawk of Osceola; John L. Jones of Cooper; Mrs. Bert Gracey of St. Marys; Mrs. Eithyl C. Henthorne and Hazel Jones of Des Moines; and Mrs. J. F. Gracey of Libertyville, Illinois.
Funeral services were held from the Christian church at Truro on August 4, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Rector. Burial was made in the Ebenezer cemetery.

MRS. BENTON JONES DIED AT HOME HERE SUNDAY AT AGE OF 84 YEARS
Mrs. Benton Jones, life long resident of this community, died at her home, Sunday afternoon, at the age of 84 years. She had been in failing health the past few months.
