Almeda Hobson, daughter of E. Kinnison and Amy Curl Hobson was born 4th month, 17th (da.) 1854 near Mooresville, Indiana. On July 22, 1884 she was united in marriage to Charles R. Hadley. Three daughters came to gladden this home, Mrs. Lora H. Nellis of Argonia, Kansas, Amy and Martha of Earlham.
She was a birthright member of Friends and early in life gave her heart to her Master. Through the years He became nearer to her as she drew closer and closer to Him. She read much from His Word and was comforted. The church was very dear to her. She was a faithful attendant at all its services until failing health prevented, but she kept a keen interest in all its activities.
Many have spoken of the blessings that have come to them through her ministery of song, which she rendered as she felt lead, during the service.
She was a devoted wife and a most kind and tender mother.
The first eleven years of her married life were spent in South Dakota. In 1895 the family moved to Iowa. After spending a few months in Mills county near Glenwood they moved to the Bear Creek neighborhood near Earlham. They remained there until 1903, at which time they moved to Earlham where she remained till the time of her death.
On November 16, 1937, at her home in Earlham, she passed to her reward at the age of 83 years. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Besides her loving husband she leaves to mourn their loss three daughters, a son-in -law, two grandchildren, many relatives and a host of friends.
