JOSEPH STAUFFERJoseph Sauffer was born Sept. 9, 1827 in Burks county, Pennsylvania, and died Dec. 20, 1922, at his home in Patterson, at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 11 days.
He was united in marriage to Catherine Guthrie, May 6, 1857. To this union were born 12 children, of whom three died in infancy and four died in early life. He is survived by his wife and five children, 25 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
His five surviving children are: Jacob Stauffer, of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Florence Baur of Des Moines; Mrs. Wilma Boyles of Grannis, Ark.; Mrs. Josephine Leech, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mrs. Claude Reynolds of Des Moines.
The funeral services were held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Methodist church in Patterson conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton of Winterset. The interment was conducted by the A.F. & A.M. lodge of Winterset. The interment was in the Patterson cemetery.
