Leroy McMains, an old time resident of Madison county, was taken with a severe stroke Sunday Jan. 6th and early Tuesday Jan. 8th, 1918 had the second attack and passed away at half past eight the same morning at the age of 68 years and one month. He was born in Mahaska county, Iowa, Dec. 8, 1849 and came to Madison county in 1855. where he continued to live until the time of his death.
He was united in marriage to Miss Alice Vert on March 20, 1873. To this union was born five children: Aetna of Des Moines, Lloyd of Murray, Arlie and Mrs. Fern Rogers of Macksburg and Coker, who lived at the old home with his parents. His wife and all of the children were at his bedside at the time of his death. He had eight grandchildren who mourn his loss.
He united with the M. E. church in early manhood and held to that faith until death. He leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss.
Funeral services were held at Kasson church Friday at 1 o'clock. Interment in Lorimor cemetery.
