CECIL C. CLIFTON

Cecil C. Clifton, the son of Sylvester and Belle Hollenbech Clifton, was born on January 20, 1881 in Benton county, Iowa. He was one of six children. When he departed this earthly life on July 12, 1966, while a patient in St. Luke hospital at Davenport, he had reached the age of 85 years, 5 months and 22 days.

On February 22, 1910 at Garrison, Iowa, Mr. Clifton was united in marriage to Myrtle Julick. To this union one son was born: Ford Clifton, now of Davenport.

Mr. Clifton farmed for 31 years in Madison county before retiring and moving to Davenport in 1952. His wife passed away in November of 1953. Others who have preceded Mr. Clifton in death were his parents, three sisters and one brother.

In addition to his son, Mr. Clifton is survived by four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Mildred Esslinger of Rockwell, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services, conducted by the Rev. Everett K. Burham, were held in the Collins Funeral Home at Winterset on July 15, 1966 at 2:00 p.m. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
