Clyde Curtis Chamberlain, oldest child of Arch B. and Florence Curtis Chamberlain, was born May 11, 1885 in Jones Co., Iowa and departed this life January 9, 1966. He came with his parents to a farm in Douglas township, Madison county, in 1900. Here he resided until his death, except for five years on an adjoining farm.
On August 6, 1912 he was united in marriage to Lois Knox. To this union were born three daughters, Florence, Olive and Myrtle.
Clyde was a member of the Worthington Methodist church, where he served on the official board from 1910 until his health did not permit him to take an active part.
He was also active in the Odd Fellows Lodge, Farm Bureau, and the Iowa Milking Shorthorn Society.
In his quiet and reserved way, he made a wide circle of friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his faithful wife Lois, his children: Florence and Harold Liss of Tempe, Arizona, Olive and Russell Ralston, Myrtle and Kenneth Allen, and eleven grandchildren, who were his very special interest, and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Shaffer, also many relatives and friends.
Casket bearers were Marvin Wilkinson, Glenn Stanley, Ivan Pryor, Cyrus McDonald, Claude Monagon and Harry Kent. Casket attendant: Harold Crawford.
Funeral services were held at the Worthington church on January 12, with the pastor Rev. Milton Haedt officiating. Interment was in Earlham cemetery.
