Christian Croft was born in Prebble county, Ohio, Dec. 26, 1824. Died at his home in Winterset, Iowa, February 17, 1914, aged nearly ninety years.
He moved with his parents to Miama county, Indiana in 1844. He was married at Silver Lake, Ind., July 31, 1851, to Miss Mary A. Campbell, who still survives him, having lived together over sixty two years.
To this union were born three children, two sons and one daughter, the daughter dying when eight years old. The sons, George W. and Ross E., survive him, both living in Winterset.
Christian Croft enlisted in the service of his country, Dec. 26, 1863 in Company C, 2d Indiana Cavalry; was captured in rear of Atlanta, Georgia, and served several months in rebel prison. He was discharged from the service June 1, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at two p.m., from the home of his son, George Croft.
