Thursday, January 17, 1957Arthur L. Fairholm, born in Madison county, Iowa on May 24, 1875, died at his home in Earlham, January 9th, 1957.
Arthur was the eldest of six children in the home of I. V. and Sarah Jane Woolery Fairholm. Two brothers, Frank and Harry and one sister, Lottie, preceded him in death. He was married February 26, 1902 to Daisy Harmon of Audubon, Iowa. He was a farmer for many years, living in Adair county, but the last fifteen years had been in the Hybrid Seed Corn business, being a Sales Supervisor for Elmer Carlson of Audubon and Leonard Hoegemeyer of Hooper, Nebraska.
His was a kindly, generous nature, a real friend in the truest sense, a wonderful husband and father and a lover of little children.
He was a member of the Christian Church at Bridgewater, Iowa, a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge at that place, having been honored in that capacity just last year. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Consistory in Des Moines.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, four sons and one daughter, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One son, Harry V. died at the age of two years.
Two sisters also survive, Mrs. C. R. Afflack of Earlham and Mrs. Dale Callison of Winterset, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The children are: Mayburn, Merritt and Don all of Waterloo, Iowa; Duane and Gertrude at home.
We do not forget him, we loved him too dearly, for his memory to fade from our lives like a dream; our lips need not speak when our hearts mourn sincerely, for grief often dwells where it seldom is seen.
