MRS. SAM KOSER DIED HERE SUNDAY

Prominent Woman Passes After Illness of About Week's Duration

Mrs. Sam Koser, prominent elderly resident of Winterset died at her home here Sunday after a fatal illness of about a week. Death was the result of a stroke. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Koser was the former Mary Alice Mendenhall, and was born Feb. 19, 1862, at Tallyrand, Iowa. She was the daughter of Nathan and Melinda Mendenhall. In 1879 the family moved to Winterset, where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was married to Samuel D. Koser on Nov. 17, 1871. They were the parents of three daughters, Mrs. Beulah Enright and Mrs. Loraine Miles of Chicago, and Mrs. Alice Woody of Winterset.

Mr. Koser, a widely-known merchant here, died in December, 1929.

In addition to her three daughters, Mrs. Koser leaves a sister, Mrs. Bessie Hudson, and three grandchildren, David and Barbara Miles and Billy Woody.
