Died at Winterset Hospital After Long Illness With Heart Trouble
William A. Beard, a well-known Madison county farmer, died at the hospital in Winterset last Thursday after an illness of several years with heart trouble. He was 52 years of age.
Mr. Beard was born in Webster township on Aug. 16, 1886, the son of William and Eliza Beard. With the exception of two years in Nebraska, his entire life was spent in this county. As a young man he united with the Evangelical church at Maple Grove.
He was married to Mrs. Adelia Smith, and they were the parents of five children. He is survived by the wife; five children: William, Guy, Eldon, Marvin and Gladys, all at home; three step-children: Leo Smith of Benton, Ill., Mrs. Myrtle Reed of Winterset, and Mrs. Orvetta Lovett of Iowa City; three brothers: John Beard of Webster township, Frank Beard of Kansas City, and Clyde Beard of Winterset; and three sisters: Mrs. Minnie Meddelson of Kansas City, Mrs. Pearl Keith of Jefferson, and Mrs. Ruth Pace of Winterset.
Funeral services were held last Saturday from the Anderson home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
