ISAAC MARLIN CURTS

Isaac Marlin Curts, eldest son of G. W. and Almeda Wright-Curts was born August 9, 1867 at the family home near Kennedy Station, Iowa. The family at that time like so many of the early settlers was living in a log cabin.

Here he attended school and helped with the work about the home. In the spring of 1885 having sold this home the family moved to a new home in the Bear Creek neighborhood north of Earlham, Iowa. Here Marlin continued to attend school some in the winter for a time and help with the farm work. Later becoming a partner with his father and at the death of his father became the owner of the home where he has continued to reside all these years. Being of a very industrious nature he was usually found at his work rarely taking much vacation.

On December 25, 1892 he was united in marriage to Maria McGrew. To this union was born one daughter, Nellie Mable-now Mrs. Earl Mitchell who resides near Earlham, Iowa. But the wife and mother did not remain in the home many years, she being called to her eternal home June 17, 1898.

On April 24, 1901 he was again united in marriage to Mary Wickwire. To this union was born two daughters-Gertrude now Mrs. Leo Conrad and Alma now Mrs. Walter Mapes both residing near Earlham. He was much loved by his family and was never happier than when doing something for their comfort and welfare.

His father, mother and brother Frank have preceded him.

Besides the wife and three daughters he is survived by two grandchildren Gerald and Marguerite Mitchell and four sisters-Mrs. Ellen Benson of Sawyer, North Dakota; Mrs. Maggie McGrew of Sawyer, who is now spending the winter in Iowa; Mrs. Dollie Benson of Earlham and Mrs. Rosa Coulter, who resides in the Bear Creek neighborhood, nephews, nieces and many friends who will miss his cheery smile.
