Kezieh Smith was born in Ohio December 10, 1856 and died at her home in Osceola June 9, 1915, aged 59 years, 6 months.
When quite young she came with her parents to Iowa. She was united in marriage to Ruel Palmer in 1874. To this union were born nine children, two of whom died in infancy. Those living are; Mrs. Alice Willows of North Dakota, Mrs. Laura Cornelison of Murray, Mrs. Sallie Osborn of Barney, Iowa, Mrs. Flora Chapman, Mrs. Carrie Hisky of Barney, Iowa, Robert and Cappie of Osceola, the last mentioned being at home with his father. All the children were present at the funeral. Besides the husband and seven children, two brothers, Abel Smith of Madison township and Dave Smith of this city, besides other relatives are left to mourn her departure.
Short funeral services were held at the home Friday morning at eight o'clock conducted by Rev. Cole after which the body was taken to the Christian church at Barney where funeral services were held in charge of Rev. Roy N. Spooner in the presence of a large company of relatives and friends. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery near the old home where she had lived for over forty years having left it in November 1914 for Osceola to make her home. (Buried in Barney cemetery).
