Hugh McLarnand was born Oct 3rd, 1824 in Antrim, Ireland, departed this life, Feb. 16, 1912, aged 88 years, 2 months and 16 days. Mr. McLarnand lived in Ireland until he was 24 years of age when he came to Montreal, Can., where he lived three years.
In 1856 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Jane Robinson, after which he moved to Adams county, Wis., residing there for eight years. He when moved to Minnesota where he lived 16 years then moving to Iowa, where he continued to live until his death.
To this union seven children were born, one having passed away in 1879. Those remaining to mourn their loss are his wife and six children-three boys and three girls: J. E. McLarnand of Winterset, Albert of Florida, J. F. of Macksburg, Mrs. H. W. Griffin, Hydo, Okla., Mrs. W. H. Jinklins, Ellsworth, Minn. and Mrs. W. L. Rhodes of Macksburg.

Hugh McLarnand of Grand River township, passed away on last Saturday at the advanced age of eighty-eight years. He had been in feeble health for some time due to the infirmities of old age and his death was hastened by an attack of Bright's disease and la grippe.
Funeral services were held at the residence on Sunday afternoon and burial at the Kilgore cemetery. The deceased was born in Antrim county, Ireland and came to America when a young man. He had lived in Madison county many years and was universally respected for his sterling character.
