January 1907Mrs. Henrietta Drake was born at Hillsboro, Pa., January 20, 1830 and died in Winchester, Ill., January 7, 1907 at 5:25 o'clock p.m. being at the time of her death, 76 years, 11 months and 17 days old. Mrs. Drake was the daughter of John D. and Elizabeth Roberts, and was married to Manning Drake of Jersey City, N. J., March 20, 1853. To this union there were born seven children, all of whom survive her. They are John D. Drake of Earlham; Julius M. Drake, Overton, Neb.; Mrs. Mary Huffman, York, Neb.; Mrs. Emma Wood, Pekin, Ill.; Mrs. Ida Spittler, York, Neb.; Mrs. Kate Shipley, Winchester, Ill.; and Frank H. Drake, Omaha, Neb.
Fifty-four years ago she moved with her husband to Farmington, Illinois. In 1856 they moved to Winterset, Iowa, where the children were born and raised. In 1884, they removed to York, Neb., where her husband died in 1891. She has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Shipley for several years. Her last illness was of short duration. One other daughter, Mrs. Emma Wood, was present when she passed away.
The funeral was conducted from the M. E. church, Winchester, Illinois, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. W. F. Gibson, officiating assisted by Rev. C. S. Lyles and the remains taken to York, Nebraska for interment, being accompanied from Winchester, by her son, Frank Drake of Omaha.

Mrs. Henrietta Drake.
Friends living at Scenery Hill have received word of the death of Henrietta Drake, widow of Manning Drake, which occurred at Winchester, Ill., January 7, after a brief illness.
The deceased was 78 years old. She was a daughter of John D. and Elizabeth Roberts, of Scenery Hill, and was married in March 20, 1853, to Manning Drake, of West Bethlehem township. In 1854 they removed to near Winchester, Iowa, where their children were born and raised. In 1884 they removed to York, Neb., where her husband died in 1891. She then went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Shipley, of Winchester, Ill., at whose home she died.
The following children survive: John D. Drake, of Earlham, Iowa; Julius M Drake, Overton, Neb.; Mrs. Mary Huffman, York, Neb.; Mrs. Emma Wood, Pekin, Ill.; Mrs. Ida Spittler, York, Neb.; Mrs Kate Shipley, Winchester, Ill., and Frank H. Drake, Omaha, Neb. These brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Sarah Young, Winterset, Iowa; Wesley Roberts, St. Charles, Iowa; and the following in this county: Mrs. Nancy Kinder, Mrs. Catharine Storer, Mrs. Nettie Walton and James D. Roberts, all of Scenery Hill, and John D. Roberts and Mrs. Elizabeth Myers, of Washington. Mrs. Myers is the wife of D. W. Myers, county commissioner. Alexander Drake, of near Canonsburg, is a brother-in-law.
