Eber Duff was born at Guernsey County, Iowa, March 8, 1845 and died at the home of his daughter Mrs. John Mills, at Earlham, Iowa, August 13, 1923.

His parents were William and Margaret Adams Duff. When a boy of 13 with his father and ten brothers and sisters he jouneyed across the plains in a prairie schooner and in 1858 settled in Madison County, which place has since been his home. His mother died in the old Ohio home.

He was for many years a faithful member of the North Branch United Presbyterian congregation. He was a man who loved to read and study his Bible and in the day of his strength he was rarely absent from any service of his church. Today he has entered into the promise of the Lord whom he loved and served.

A favorite text was: I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Hence forth there is laid up for me a crown of glory, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, shall give me at that day truly. Blessed are they that die in the Lord.

Funeral services were conducted at Worthington Church Wednesday and interment was in Worthington cemetery.
