Death of Otto Bruett

Otto Bruett, one of the earlier settlers of Jackson township died on the 8th of Sept. at Pueblo, Colorado. The body was brought here and burial made at the Winterset cemetery on last Wednesday.

Mr. Bruett moved from Madison county about fifteen years ago, moving to Missouri and from there to Pueblo, about three years ago. His health failed last February, but the illness from which death resulted was of only a few days duration. Besides the wife, he is survived by four sons and one daughter, Charles, Will, George and Mrs. John Reed, who reside in this county and Edwin at Glenwood.

Otto Bruett was born in Germany Jan. 21, 1835 and died at Pueblo, Colo., Sept. 8, 1912, age 76 years, 7 months, 19 days. He came to America in a sail boat at the age of about 18, He came to Madison county in an early day and this was his home until about sixteen years ago, when he moved to Missouri. Three years ago the family moved to Pueblo.

In 1864 he was married to Miss Sarah Williams, who preceded him to the better land in 1884. Eleven children came to bless this union: Chas N., William A., Edd, George F., Mrs. Laura Reed, five died in infancy and Ella after she had grown to womanhood. In 1887 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Kate Emerick, who survives him. About thirty years ago he united with the Early Chapel Church of Christ, and to the last his interest in the Masters kingdom remained faithful. His last sickness was of short duration although for a number of years he has not been in active work.

Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ, Wednesday, Sept. 11, conducted by L. F. Davis. Burial to Rock City cemetery.

The body of Otto Bruett of Pueblo, Colo., was brought here this morning. Mr. Bruett, was at one time, a resident of Madison county but went west several years ago. The funeral was held at the Church of Christ this afternoon, Rev. Davis conducting the service.

Otto Bruett was born in Germany, June 21, 1835 and died at Pueblo, Colo., Sept. 8, 1912, aged 76 years, 7 months and 19 days. He came to American in a sail boat when about 18 years old.

He came to Madison county in an early day and this was his home until about sixteen years ago when the family moved to Missouri, where they remained until about three years ago, moving to Pueblo.

In 1846, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Williams, who preceeded him to the better land in 1884. In 1877 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Kate Emerick, who survives him.
