Lee R. Grimes died at Pasadena, Calif., on March 27, 1923,from pneumonia.
At one time he was one of the largest land owners in Lee township, living on Section 3. Mr. Grimes came to Madison county during the 70s and resided in Lee township until 1895 or 1896, then moved to Des Moines, where he lived for 15 years. Then he lived in Texas for a short time, moving from there to take up permanent residence in Pasadena.
He was past 70 years of age and enjoyed good health until pneumonia seized him. He is survived by Mrs. Grimes, a sister of the late Nelson Howell; a daughter, who resides in Pasadena; and a son, Robert H. Grimes of Missouri.
Mr. Grimes was a highly respected citizen of Madison county for years and held the esteem of his wide circle of friends.
