Wednesday, January 10, 1912Andrew McConnelee Dies in Colorado
A. J. McConnelee, one of the pioneer settlers of Madison county, died at Boulder, Colorado on Wednesday of last week. Chas Robinson left as soon as the word was received and accompanied the body here for burial. Mr. Robinson reached Peru on Monday evening and on Tuesday the body was brought here and buried in the Winterset cemetery.
Mr. McConnelee was ill only two days and died from the effects of a stroke of paralysis. He was born Nov. 3, 1835 and came with his parents to Madison county in 1857. He enlisted from this county in Co. I, 4th Iowa Cavalry and served his country in the War of the Rebellion. His home for many years was in section 29, Scott township. A few years ago, Mr. and Mrs. McConnelee retired from the farm and made their home in Winterset until last year, which they spent in travel finally locating at Boulder.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three brothers, Daniel and Archibald of this county and William of Monmouth, Ill.
