Marshall Thompson, son of Joseph and Mahala Thompson was born in Union county, Iowa, May 30, 1863, and passed away at the hospital at Clarinda, Feb. 3, 1939, at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 4 days.
On January 19, 1887 he was united in marriage to Minta Welch at Corning.
To this union two children were born: J. C. Thompson of Macksburg and Loren Thompson of Des Moines.
Mr. Thompson spent his entire life in Union and Madison counties, being a resident of Macksburg since 1900.
He was preceded in death by his wife, August 19, 1932, three brothers, Sam, Andrew and Adrian, two sisters, Josephine and Lyda Thompson.
He leaves to mourn his passing two sons, J. C. Thompson of Macksburg and Loren Thompson of Des Moines, two brothers, C. C. Thompson of Creston, and Grenville Thompson of Afton, two sister, Mrs. Cora Felker of St. Louis, Mo., and Eva Thompson of Creston, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday at one o'clock at the Methodist church in Macksburg, conducted by Rev. M. D. Summerbell. Interment was made in the Moon cemetery.
