OBITUARY

Mary Ann Pease, daughter of David and Jane Eliza Firebaugh, was born December 24, 1857, at Rockbridge Baths, Va. She was one of a family of nine children, of whom two are still living; John H. Firebaugh of Abingdon, Illinois, and Calvin D. Firebaugh of Rockbridge Bath, Va.

Her girlhood was spent in Virginia and at the age of eighteen she came to Illinois. On Feb. 27, 1879, she was married and made her home at Abingdon, Illinois. She was the beloved mother of five children, all of whom are still living; William R. of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Arthur Marks of Earlham, Iowa, Mrs. Malcolm F. Miller of Green River, Wyo., Harry S. of Abingdon, Illinois, and Cecil C. of Topeka, Kansas. For the past eleven years she had made her home in Topeka, Kan.

Since last December she has been at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Marks, where she gradually failed although she received every possible attention and the best of care. During her illness she ---- and desired enjoyment from the many kind attentions and interests shown her by the Earlham friends and neighbors. On April --, 1928, at noon, she passed peacefully away at the age of seventy. The three sons came to be with her during her last days. Her only grandson, Duncan Miller, arrived soon afterward.

All who knew her recognized her devotion and sacrifices for her children. As a member of the Central Congregational Church of Topeka, she made its welfare and activities one of the budding interests of her life during her residence there. Her memory will long be cherished by many.

Funeral services were conducted at the home at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon by Rev. ----. Interment was in Earlham cemetery.
