MRS. JAMES GILLOGLY DIES

Life-Long Resident of This County Succumbed Last Thursday

Mrs. James A. Gillogly, pioneer resident of Crawford township, died at her home in Patterson early Thursday morning, April 6th after a short illness, at the age of 84 years. She was the former Sarah Jane Bell, daughter of Abner and Mary Jane Crossley Bell, and was born in a log cabin, four miles east of Patterson, August 31, 1854.

She grew to womanhood in this community, and was married to James A. Gillogly of Patterson, Sept. 3, 1874. The couple observed their 64th wedding anniversary last fall.

To this couple were born six children, who with the husband survive her: Mrs. Frank Henderson, Indianola; James Clyde, LeRoy and Gertrude Gillogly of Patterson; W. A. Gillogly of Balboa, Panama; and Mrs. Charles Herran of Macksburg. She also leaves 4 granddaughters, Mrs. Harry Namanny, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Herschel Davis, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. George King, Macksburg; and Mrs. Walter Hawkins of Louisville, Ky.; and one grandson, Robert Herron of Macksubrg. She also leaves six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Three sisters and a brother also survive Mrs. Gillogly; Mrs. William Dorrence, Fairmont, Neb.; Mrs. Francis Miller, Patterson; Mrs. Ross Huston, Polson, Mont.; and Ralph J. Bell of Winterset.

Her funeral services were conducted at the Patterson Methodist church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock by the Rev. E. L. Patterson of Oskaloosa, the Rev. J. H. Machlan of Peru and the Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset. Burial was made in the Montpelier cemetery.
