S. M. JOLIFFE, SON OF MRS. M. C. SHAW, IS DEAD

Retired Villisca Merchant Died Monday in Omaha Hospital

Mrs. M. C. Shaw received word Monday night of the death of her son, S. M. Joliffe, retired Villisca clothier. Mr. Joliffe who was 59 years of age, died Monday in an Omaha hospital following a short illness with a heart attack.

Mr. Joliffe lived here until he was 19 years of age. He attended college, and since then has been in business in the southwest part of the state. He was vice president of the Nodaway Valley National bank of Villisca, and a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife, and a daughter, Helen of Villisca, and his mother, Mrs. Shaw of Winterset.

Funeral and burial services will be held at Villisca Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Ava Leveke and daughter, Mrs. Charles Bass, and Mrs. Stanley Shaw are planning to drive there for the services.

Iowa Banker Dies

Omaha – (AP) – Sweeden (sic) Meredith Jolliffe, 59, vice president of the Nodaway Valley National Bank of Villisca, Ia., died at an Omaha hospital Tuesday after a brief illness. He suffered a stroke Sunday while visiting here.

Jolliffe was a former Villisca clothing merchant, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Sioux City Shrine.

Surviving are his widow and a daughter.
