Mary Mahala Little was born near Flora, Ind., July 31, 1843, and departed this life Feb. 23, 1917.
She came to Iowa in 1855 at the age of 12 years, living in Washington county until moving here, settling near the Elm Grove church in Scott township, where she has spent most of her life. She was united in marriage to G. W. Corporron in 1863. To this union was born one child, W. A. Corporron of Hornick, Iowa, who still survives her
Later she was united in marriage to James S. Smith, Oct. 8, 1871. To this union were born five children, all of whom have preceded her to the land beyond, except Lester, her youngest child, who has lived with her on the old homeplace until her death.
She leaves to mourn her departure, a husband, two sons, two daughters in law, six grandchildren and two brothers, William Little of Flora, Ind., who is 83 years of age and Henry Little of River Sioux, Iowa, who is 77 years of age, besides other relatives and a wide circle of friends.
She was converted while a young girl and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Elm Grove, of which she was a member until called to unite with the Church Triumphant.
Services were conducted, from the home by Orville P. Manker, pastor of the M. E. church of East Peru, Interment took place in King cemetery.
