Nathan Wescot was born in Jefferson county, N. Y., July 7th, 1850. With his parents he came to Chilton, Wis., in 1854, and settled there. In 1871 he came to Iowa and homesteaded in Osceola county. He was married in 1873 to Albertine West, of Chilton, Wis., who died in 1878, leaving one daughter, Mrs. Daisy Breed, of Chilton. In 1881 he was married to Sylvia J. Holt, of Rockford, Ill., who with the children survive him. Mrs. Grace Abrahams, Helen and George Wescot, of this city, were born of this union. A brother, Frank Wescot, and a sister, Mrs. E. S. West, both of Chilton, Wis., are the remaining relatives.

He was taken ill at Fulton, Ill., and was sent to Maywood hospital at Chicago, where everything was done for him that could be, but he failed rapidly, and his wife was summoned from here, reaching his bedside only a few hours before his death, June 3d. The remains were brought to this city accompanied by his wife and daughter, Mrs. Daisy Breed, and the funeral services were held from the home on Sunday, conducted by Rev. Corkey, of the Presbyterian church.

NATHAN WESTCOT Obituary

Nathan Westcot was born in eastern New York July 7, 1850. He came with his parents to Calumet county, Wis., in 1854 where his father located on a timber claim. Here he remained until 1871, taking his father's place in the home during the trying times of the civil war. In 1871 he came to Osceola county, Iowa, and took up a homestead on which he lived until 1882. Since that time he has been a railroad contractor, working in many of the western states and in Canada.

He was married in 1873 to Albertine West, of Chilton, Wis., who died in Dec. 1878. In 1881 he was married to Sylvia J. Holt, of Rockford, Ill., who with their three children survives him. Mrs. Grace Abrahams, Helen and George, of this city, were born to this union.

He had suffered from heart trouble for some time and on May 29th was sent from Fulton, Ill., to Maywood hospital, Chicago, with an attack of pneumonia. His wife was summoned June 2nd and reached him in time to spend only a few hours with him until death came a welcome release.

The remains were brought home on Saturday accompanied by his wife and daughter, Mrs Breed, and the funeral occurred on Sunday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. Corkey and Rev. Atwood, and interment was in the Rock City cemetery.
