Wednesday, February 14, 1912Small Knife Wound Causes Death
Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Dorrell were called to Des Moines the first of the week by the death of their son, William B. Dorrell, who died on Sunday. Dorrell, who was an employee of the White Front restaurant, lost his life in a peculiar manner. Henry Wilkerman, another employee of the restaurant, was giving exhibitions in knife throwing. While so engaged, the knife struck a stove, glanced and inflicted a small wound on Dorrell's leg, severing an artery. Dorrell was hurried to Mercy hospital and attended by physicians, but died from loss of blood on the day following the accident. The deceased was the father of Chas. Dorrell, Congressman Prouty's private secretary and was born in this county.

Wednesday, February 14, 1912Died From Peculiar Cause
W. B. Dorrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Dorrell, of this place, and almost a lifelong resident of Winterset, died last Sunday as the result of an unusual and peculiar accident while working in a restaurant. An associate was throwing a pocket knife at a door, trying to make it stick in the panel. He miscalculated, however, and the knife struck a stove, glancing off and burying its point in Mr. Dorrell's leg. The main artery in the leg was punctured, and the man bled profusely before a doctor could be secured. He was taken to Mercy hospital where he died Sunday morning.
Mr. Dorrell is survived by a widow and a son, Charles E. Dorrell, who is private secretary to Congressman S. F. Prouty at Washington, D. C. Four brothers, two sisters and the parents of Mr. Dorrell survive. The brothers are: H. D. of Des Moines; J. C. of Condon, S. D.; John of Minneapolis and Joseph of Lovelock, Colo. The sisters are: Mrs. Mary Braggs of Seattle, Wash. and Mrs. Florence Berlin of Winterset. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Dorrell, the parents of the dead man, reside at Winterset.
