Former Manager of A & P Store Here Succumbs to Heart Ailment
Roy Morrison, for eight years a grocer in Winterset, died at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines Thursday morning of a heart ailment.
Mr. Morrison came here in 1932 as a manager of the local A & P grocery store, continuing there until last March. Shortly thereafter he moved to California, but had returned recently and entered a hospital in Des Moines for an examination. Physicians advised that he remain in the hospital for treatment, and his death occurred there a few hours later.
Mr. Morrison who was 51 years of age, was born in Dallas, Texas but had spent most of his life in Nebraska and Iowa. He was married in 1932 to Miss Elsie McMillan of Boone, who survives him. He also leaves a son Glen Morrison and two grandchildren of Ogden.
Funeral services for the deceased were held at the Schrader funeral home in Boone Sunday afternoon and burial was made in the Boone cemetery.

Was Manager Of A & P Store For More Than Six Years. Services In Boone.
Roy P. Morrison, former business man of Winterset, died Thursday morning of last week at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines following a brief illness. Mr. Morrison entered the hospital on Wednesday for treatment and died early Thursday. His death is believed to have been caused by a heart attack.
Mr. Morrison, who was 51 years of age, was manager of the Atlantic and Pacific Tea company store near for 6 and one half years. He came to Winterset from Boone where he previously managed the A. & P. Store for a period of four years. Mr. and Mrs. Morrison moved to Glendale, California, the first of March, returning to Iowa about two weeks ago.
Mr. Morrison was born February 24, 1888 in Dallas, Texas, and was married in 1932 to Elsie McMillan in Winterset. The surviving relatives are, his wife; one son Gene Morrison of Ogden and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his only daughter who was killed in an automobile accident in December, 1938, and also his parents.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:15 at the Schrader funeral home in Boone. The Rev. R. Sutton of the Church of Christ in Boone conducted the service. Burial was made in the city cemetery there.
Those who attended the funeral services from Winterset were Mr. and Mrs. Ray King, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Briggle, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bass, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bass, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Lecoque, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wasson, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Morrissey, Miss Helen Porter, Sam Dick and Harry Gaspari.
