Mrs. Jane (Roberts) Scott, one of Scott township's oldest citizens died Sunday at the old home farm, after an illness of several months. She was brought home from Springfield, Mo., where she had been spending the winter with her daughter in the hope that she might get better. She grew steadily worse until her death. (d. May 25, 1913).
The funeral services took place at 11 o'clock this morning and interment in the Young cemetery. Mrs. Scott was the mother of T. M. and W. R. Scott of this place. (husband-Alexander Oliver Scott)

Page 1Mrs. Jane K. Scott, one of the early settlers of Madison county, died at her home near St. Charles Sunday, May 25th, after an illness of about four months. She went to Springfield, Mo., last fall to spend the winter with her daughter, Mrs. C. N. VanHosen. She was taken sick on the way from which she never fully recovered. She was able to return home in April, and for a time seemed to improve. One week ago she suffered a relapse from which she never regained consciousness.
Jane K. Roberts was born in Jefferson county, Ohio, May 1st, 1833. Was married to A. O. Scott, October 27, 1859, who died Sept. 20th, 1904. To them were born six children, four sons and two daughters.
The family moved to Madison county in 1866, and settled on the farm on which she died.
The funeral was held this morning at 10:30 o’clock conducted by Rev. W. W. Williams.
