Winterset Madisonian-Winterset, Iowa
February 7, 1912

Isaac C. Huffman was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, April 30, 1836 and died at the home of his son in Iowa Colony, Brazoria county, Texas, Jan. 24, 1912, aged 75 years, 8 months and 24 days. The family migrated from Pennsylvania to Illinois in 1863 and thence to Missouri in 1865 and to Madison county, Iowa in 1877. In 1870 while yet residing in Missouri, he returned to Pennsylvania and was married to Elizabeth McConnel and returned with his wife to Missouri. Their wedded life extended over 42 years. To them were born 3 children, one of whom found an early grave in Missouri. The living are Mrs. Ella Wright of Des Moines and George of Texas. These with his wife are left to mourn their loss.

Mr. Huffman, was the last of his own family. He was raised in the Presbyterian faith and in early life had membership in that church and later in the Methodist church. In late years he was not active in any church. He had always been in robust health until about two months ago, he was attacked with bronchitis and heart trouble and under medical advice and to satisfy a strong personal desire, made the long journey to Texas, hoping a milder climate and much outdoor life would improve his health, but it was not to be. He only enjoyed a very few good days and early Wednesday morning Jan. 24th, his eyes were closed in death.

His body was brought to Winterset Jan. 27th and funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis. Interment in the Rock City cemetery.
